New Beginnings

On the 1st of February I joined Lalela. It has always been something I have wanted to do. I love the work of this NGO Check it out at www.lalela.org It has been an interesting two weeks. I have not found it easy to find my space there, literally I am not sure where I must sit everyday. The offices are a bit disorganised and kind of at the moment are like one big Art Lab. We were commissioned as a team to re-design our offices. It was an awesome project one that my team took seriously and worked consistently hard to put together a presentation that was presented via Skype on Friday afternoon. It was a huge let down and disappointment. The Skype connection was terrible. It was difficult to communicate our ideas. There was lots of misunderstanding. All that said it was an awesome time to connect with my team
It was a great way to connect with new colleagues and get to see how they operate and what makes them tick. So even though the actual project felt like an epic fail, the relationship established were a wonderful by product of this exercise. Anyway we push on. Ashleigh moving out of home was quite a huge deal for me. But it is wonderful to see that she has taken t the working world like a duck to water. Really is so satisfying to see your child happy and transforming into adulthood with such grace. To know she is happy makes me happy. She turned 23 this week. It is insane to think back on those years and wander how we got to this point. Grateful for God's grace. This week I start studying again, I am really nervous and excited at the same time. The UCT Accounting Get Smarter course. It looks like a lot more work than I thought. So I might fall off the world for the next 9 weeks. I will be working really hard, I really want this. I have been working in accounts for the past 18 years and all my experience without a formal qualification is never given it's proper recognition. So I am excited to finally get this done. The fact that it is costing me a small fortune also bodes well for my motivation. So friends keep me in your prayers. Life at home with my boys is awesome. I love being a mom to them and making sure that they are happy and fed. Jason begins his 2nd year at UCT tomorrow and Jesse is in full swing at school with his final year. His responsibilities as Head Boy keep him really busy but he is loving it. Andre moves into the 2nd year of running his own business and is still a happy man. Life is good and I am grateful for everyday - Challenges and all!
